A Review On The Show “Moon Knight”

One of my favorite shows ever and one of the most exciting heroes in the MCU is Marvel’s Moon Knight. The show pushes psychological drama, action, and mythology in a way that feels new. It tells us the story of Marc Spector, a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder, as he struggles with his multiple identities and his relationship to the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. What really makes Moon Knight unique, is just how much time it spends explaining the struggles of its character and his mental health, making this a superhero story of more than just beating up bad guys, it makes you always want the character to win not just for “justice” or “he’s the good guy”.

One of the high points of the show is the great acting by Oscar Isaac. He does play different personalities, like the shy Steven Grant and the tough Marc Spector, and makes each of them real and interesting. It really looks great; the creative camera and visuals to show the broken mind of Marc are there. Also, some Egyptian mythology helped with an interesting explanation of the character, and Moon Knight is really different compared to any other Marvel series.

That notwithstanding, Moon Knight has some problematic elements: occasionally, it all moves, either at way too fast a tempo in some places or at extremely slow ones in other episodes; it also tries to cram in too many ideas and plotlines, which often gets quite messy.

Nevertheless, it remains powerful and emotional despite all that. Moon Knight brings into the MCU some really new insights while commenting on such sensitive subjects as identity and trauma; hence, it is worth watching for any superhero or deep story amateur.
